Pricing model
Square's UK pricing lists a Free plan with no monthly fee, a Plus plan with a monthly fee and a custom Premium plan, all with card processing fees per transaction. Aevornix POS is a one-time licence; if you take cards, your payment provider charges its own fees.
Selling when the internet drops
Square supports offline card payments in its POS apps, which must be uploaded within 72 hours, and Square states the seller is responsible for any expired, declined or disputed offline payments.
Aevornix POS keeps the whole shop running from the business file on the till: sales, stock, shifts and books. A till that cannot reach the shop's hub keeps selling and merges when it reconnects. Card payments still depend on your provider's own connection. See what happens to POS without internet.
Devices and data
Square runs on iPhone, iPad and Android with Square hardware, and brings sales together in one account viewed through the Square Dashboard. Aevornix POS runs on Windows PCs; several tills share one business through a Local Hub on the shop network or a Sync Bridge on your own server, and encrypted backups restore onto a new computer.
Where each fits
- Square fits shops that want to start taking cards quickly on a phone or tablet, sell online as well, and are content with cloud reporting.
- Aevornix POS fits shops with Windows tills that want no monthly fees, stock and double-entry books in one system, and selling that does not stop when the connection does.
