Why shops look for a Square alternative
Square's POS app is free to start, with paid plans and card processing fees per transaction. Shops look elsewhere when they want accounts and stock managed on their own computer, bookkeeping in the same system, or selling that does not depend on uploading within a time limit.

The Aevornix option
Aevornix POS handles sales, refunds and shifts with manager approvals, stock as a movement ledger, purchasing and stock counts, receipts for 58 and 80 mm printers, and reports exported to PDF, CSV and Excel. Several tills share a business through a Local Hub or a Sync Bridge on your own server.
Limitations and moving across
Aevornix POS runs on Windows PCs, not phones or tablets, and card payments go through a separate payment provider. PayPal is not supported. Plan a stock count on the day you switch so the new stock ledger starts from a known position.
