One-Time Purchase Software, Explained Tier by Tier

One-time purchase software is sold for a single payment that gives you a lasting right to use it. Aevornix sells every application and bundle this way, under four licence tiers that decide who may use it, on how many devices, and whether it can be used for paid work.

How a one-time purchase works

You choose a product or bundle, choose a licence tier, and pay once. The licence is permanent for the major version you bought and includes maintenance updates for that version. Future major versions are offered as separate upgrades, so you decide whether and when to move. Nothing stops working because a renewal date has passed.

This is often called a perpetual licence. Our guide to perpetual software licences explains the term and how it differs from a subscription.

The four licence tiers

Every Aevornix product is offered in the same four tiers.

What a one-time licence includes and what it does not

Included: the right to use the version you bought for as long as you like, maintenance updates for that version, and use on the devices your tier allows. Not included: future major versions, and anything a product states as not yet built. Aevornix Guard adds one specific time limit: its malware-definition and threat-intelligence updates are included for 3 years, then continue with an optional yearly renewal.

Some products are in early access, which means they work today but have features still in development. The product pages state those limits plainly so you know what you are paying for.

When one-time purchase makes sense

Buying outright suits software you will use for years, on devices you control, for work that does not depend on a vendor's servers. It is less suited to services whose value is ongoing hosting, such as cloud storage or real-time collaboration, where a subscription pays for a running service.

Businesses often find that the saving is largest on tools used every day by several people. The subscription cost calculator compares a subscription with a one-time price over time, using figures you enter.

Choosing a bundle

If you need several applications, a bundle is one purchase. The Aevornix Suite covers the six office applications; Aevornix Business covers the four business applications, and Aevornix Complete covers every application on sale. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a one-time purchase and a lifetime licence?

Aevornix uses the plainer terms. Your licence lasts permanently for the major version you buy, with maintenance updates for that version. It does not promise every future version.

Which tier should I choose for my own business?

Professional covers one person doing paid work on up to 3 devices. Business covers 5 named users on up to 5 business PCs and can be extended in packs of 5.

Can I use a Home licence for work?

No. Home and Student licences are for non-commercial use. Paid and client work needs a Professional or Business licence.

Can I move a licence to a new computer?

You may use the software on the devices your tier covers. The licence terms set out the device rules in full.
