Why edit video offline
Footage is large and often confidential: client shoots, unreleased products, family recordings. Browser editors need that footage uploaded before anything happens. A desktop editor works straight from your drives at local speed, and an editor with no telemetry keeps what you edit to yourself.
Aevornix Studio
What works today
Verified capabilities of Studio version 0.1.0.
- Projects written as you work, so there is no unsaved state.
- Import with metadata, poster frames and waveforms, smart bins, and Locate Missing Media by fingerprint.
- Magnetic and Track Mode timelines with trim, blade, snap, roll, slip and slide, and three point editing.
- Quick Colour, per-clip effect stacks, green and blue screen keying and masks.
- A mixer with live meters, and delivery presets for master, web, vertical, square and audio.
- One undo history across the project, kept after reopening, and named versions.
What is not built yet
Studio is in early access and does not yet match mature professional editors. Captions and transcription, collaboration and plugins are not built. Scopes, node based grading, tracking and compositing are not built. Audio EQ, compression, limiting, buses and loudness targets are not built, nor are compound clips, nesting and time remapping. Studio needs FFmpeg for import and export and offers an optional download of an LGPL build, and its interface needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, included with Windows 11.
Working with your own media
Studio imports footage with its metadata, poster frames and waveforms, and organises it into smart bins. If files move on disk, Locate Missing Media finds them again by fingerprint rather than by name. Because the project is written as you work, there is no save button to forget and no unsaved state to lose, and a single undo history covers the whole project, still there after you reopen it. Named versions let you keep a cut before trying a different one.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to upload footage to edit it?
No. Studio works from media on your own drives, and projects stay on your computer.
Does Studio send usage data?
No. There is no account, no telemetry and no analytics.
Can Studio add captions?
Not yet. Captions and transcription are still in development.
Why does Studio need FFmpeg?
Import and export use FFmpeg. Studio offers an optional download of an LGPL build, about 80 MB, checked against its published checksum, or uses one already installed.
