An Offline Audio Editor for Recording and Mixing

An offline audio editor records, edits and mixes sound entirely on your own computer. Aevornix AudioDJ opens no network connection of any kind while recording, editing, mixing, exporting and saving, measured across a whole session, and it needs no account.

Why offline matters for audio

Audio work is sensitive to interruption and to privacy. A dropped connection in the middle of a take, or an online editor that must upload a session before it can process it, costs time and puts unreleased material on another company's servers. Working offline keeps recordings on your own drives from the first second.

What AudioDJ does

Verified capabilities of AudioDJ version 1.3.1.

  • Start by recording, importing a file or opening an empty track, with no input device required for the last.
  • Monitor your input while a take runs.
  • Non destructive editing with six fade shapes, zero crossing snapping and a readable history.
  • A sampler of eight banks of sixteen pads, and scenes that recall part of the mix at once.
  • Loudness, loudness range and true peak to ITU-R BS.1770.
  • Waveform, decibel and spectrogram views.

Limits to know

AudioDJ is an open beta on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Publishing to online destinations is not built, though exporting to a file works. Decks, beat grids, tempo and key detection and controller mapping are not built. A plugin that crashes while running takes the application with it, the cost of running plugins in the same process so their audio reaches the mixer in time.

Who it suits

AudioDJ suits musicians and producers recording and arranging their own material, podcasters who need clean recordings with measured loudness, and performers who prepare sets with sampler pads and scenes before playing live. It suits anyone who wants the take on their own disk from the first second and no account between them and their work.

It suits less well a DJ who needs decks, beat matching and controller mapping today, since those are not built, or someone whose main aim is publishing straight to an online service from the editor.

Measured, not predicted

A distinctive point about AudioDJ is how it reports levels. Its meters read audio that actually passed through the engine rather than a prediction of it, and an export is reopened and measured before it reports success. Loudness, loudness range and true peak follow ITU-R BS.1770 and agree with ffmpeg to within 0.04 LU. For anyone delivering to a loudness target, the number on screen is the number in the file.

Frequently asked questions

Does AudioDJ connect to the internet?

Not while recording, editing, mixing, exporting or saving. Those were measured across a whole session at zero connections.

Will I lose a take if the program closes?

The take is written to disk as it arrives, so an interrupted session still leaves a file that opens.

Can AudioDJ publish straight to streaming sites?

No. Publishing to online destinations is not built. Export to a file and upload it yourself.
