Pricing model
Microsoft states that Power Automate with a Microsoft account is available at no extra cost for desktop flows. Its paid Premium, Process and Hosted Process plans are priced per user or per bot per month, paid yearly, and unattended desktop flows need Process or Hosted Process.
Aevornix Automate is a one-time licence. Scheduled and triggered workflows run through its background runner with no per-bot charge.
Accounts and where flows are stored
Power Automate for desktop is signed in with a Microsoft account, a work or school account or an organisation premium account, and Microsoft notes that flows built with a Microsoft account are stored on OneDrive. Aevornix Automate needs no account and keeps workflows on the computer.
Capabilities
Both automate files, folders and desktop applications, and both can record steps. Aevornix Automate adds triggers for schedules, files and folders, polling, hotkeys, the clipboard and application events, HTTP requests with encrypted saved credentials, script steps, and a run history showing each step's input and output.
Power Automate connects to Microsoft's cloud services and a large connector catalogue through cloud flows, which Aevornix Automate does not replace. If your automations mostly live in Microsoft 365, Power Automate is the closer fit.
Where each fits
- Power Automate fits organisations standardised on Microsoft 365 and its cloud connectors.
- Aevornix Automate fits Windows users who want scheduled and triggered automation on their own machine without accounts, cloud storage or per-bot fees.
Frequently asked questions
Is Power Automate for desktop free?
Microsoft says Power Automate with a Microsoft account is available at no extra cost. Premium features and unattended runs are paid plans.
Does Aevornix Automate send workflows to the cloud?
No. Workflows are stored and run on your computer; only steps that call a web service contact that service.
Can Aevornix Automate run when nobody is at the computer?
Its background runner keeps triggers active while the editor is closed, so scheduled and file triggers still fire.
